Q: How do I submit a magazine?

A: There are two types of forms where members can enter new data:

- Categories ('MAD', 'Colliers' or 'Rolling Stone')
- Magazines ('MAD #0110', 'Colliers 1907-04' or 'Rolling Stone #1001' )

Let's say you own an issue of Rolling Stone that currently doesn't exist in the Kaastor database. You will enter a 'new magazine' from here. Since a magazine issue needs to be assigned a category, you have to make sure that that cetagory exists by searching in the 'Browse by category' section. Of course, you can create new categories here

Categories require a few fields, including country or region of release (as in US, Latin America), category title and parent category. Parent categories help Kaastor organize magazines by genre. Selecting the parent category can be a tricky enterprise as it is a subjective attribute, but we hope that the self-regulating nature of the portal will correct mistakes.

After adding a magazine it will become part of your draft collection available here and once a moderator approves that issue, it will become part of your submitted items list available here

BRIEF TUTORIAL: ADD A NEW CATEGORY

To add a new category follow these simple steps:

STEP 1: Log on to Kaastor.com and go to 'Browse Magazines' -> 'Add New Category'

If this is the first time you add an item to the database, Kaastor may require you to reenter your username and password, before accessing the data entry form. Provide your credentials as outlined below:

STEP 2: Enter the main attributes for your new category:

Category Title (i.e. Rolling Stone)
Country or Region
Parent Category or genre, necessary for categorization and ease of navigation
Category Description

From the images tab you can add or edit images associated with the category:

STEP 3: Upload your category pictures

Browse your computer (pictures should be less then 100K and have a resolution of 600 by 400 pixels)
Make sure the Auto-Create Thumbnail radio button is checked if you do not want to upload a separate picture for the category thumbnail
Click on Save

BRIEF TUTORIAL: ADD A NEW MAGAZINE ISSUE

To add a new magazine follow these simple steps:

STEP 1: Log on to Kaastor.com and go to 'Browse Magazines' -> Add New Magazine

STEP 2: Enter the main attributes that describe your new magazine. If you do this for the first time, hover the mouse over the blue 'i' or 'Tip' icon to better understand the data entry process and the meaning of each field. The following fields describe your new magazine issue:

Issue #
Short Description
Magazine detailed Description
Category

Note that the magazine Title will be created automatically using the category and the issue #.

From the images tab you can add or edit images associated with the category:
